Mims - Like This / Just Like That Video

The official MimsMusic.net site doesn't even have the video posted. This is the best one available at the moment that I've seen online. With this being the second single, "Like This"; I'm thinking that for me personally, the video helped me like this song a little bit more than when I first heard it.

Mims: Hot, Fly & Famous

An actual good interview with Mims courtesy of Joi Rogers over at BallerStatus.net.

"Music has been his savior since back in 2003, when Washington Heights, New York native Mims set out at the task of starting a rap career. He was 23, then, and the possibilities were endless. Unfortunately, he had some toiling experiences behind him, as he suffered an agonizing loss with the death of both parents before the age of 13. Reluctantly, these series of unfortunate events were his ammunition of empowerment. That is how his story begins.

It is unlikely that when he linked with digital promotion company DigiWaxx or Push Plan Management earlier this decade, that he any idea he was four years away from reaching considerable notoriety. How could he? As he is predicted to have the largest ringtone sold to date, he now harnesses the power of six million listeners on MySpace, and is Top 10 on Billboard, Rhythmic and iTunes. He now pours his energies into his own label, American King, whilst promoting his debut album, which is out now..."

MIMS - Like This (Remix)

I gotta say that I'm somewhat disappointed in the selection of the follow-up single to the "This Is Why I'm Hot" smash! Perhaps another song would've been a better pick. We all know that the lead-off single is gonna be a hard act to follow. A valiant effort nonetheless, but I don't think it'll garner as many spins as when MIMS was lettin heads know why he's hot. I'll admit though, the original is still growin on me. I'm liking it more and more every time I listennn to it. However, thanks to the big homie, DJ Krayz, you may take an immediate liking to "Like This". Especially since it's Spring and its just got that, "let me stunt" feel around the song mashed up with D-Nice's "Call Me D-Nice". So here's a little treat and remember where you heard it first.

Remixed & Retitled
MIMS - They Call Me MIMS (DJ Krayz - D-Nice Remix) CLICK HERE

This "remix/mashup/whatever you wanna call it" is a must for the Zune. Most appropriate today since it's warmin up in Seatown. Gonna be 75 in the city. Consider this your intro track into the Spring/Summer season of '07.

MIMS Heats Up The Road With Microsoft® ZUNE™ for Club Tour

MIMS Kicks Off a Twenty-Seven City Club Tour Today Behind His Capitol Music Debut CD "Music is My Savior" In Stores Now. Tour Unveils On-going, National Partnership with MIMS and Microsoft's® ZUNE

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

New York, NY (PRWeb) April 3, 2007 -- He's brought the heat to the nation's airwaves with his smash single "This is Why I'm Hot," and now Capitol Music Group / American King artist MIMS plans to heat up the road with Microsoft's® digital media player brand Zune for a headlining club tour in support of his debut album "Music Is My Savior."

The #1 Billboard Hot 100 charting artist will kick off his schedule today, April 3rd in his New York City hometown and will hit twenty-seven cities on a tour that will focus primarily on nightclub venues. The tour will bring "Music Is My Savior" tracks such as "This is Why I'm Hot," "Just like That," and for the first time, his forthcoming single "Like This," among others from his debut CD to life on stage for many MIMS fans in cities across the country.

The tour, sponsored by Zune and promoted by the global digital music promotions company Digiwaxx Media, whose dominance in both the music and technology industries successfully garnered the partnership between MIMS and Zune, will hit cities in a hard-to-miss, technologically state-of the art tour bus wrapped in MIMS' likeness. The tour will serve to unveil an on-going, national partnership between MIMS and ZUNE extending beyond the tour.

"The partnership between MIMS and Zune represents the new age of marketing," says Digiwaxx Media CEO, Corey Llewellyn. "The collaboration between an innovative company and an innovative artist showcases the emerging importance of technology within the ever changing music industry."

"I'm excited to join forces with a powerful company like Microsoft®," says MIMS. "This isn't just a great move for me but this is great for Hip Hop music across the board. In introducing the Zune digital media player into the Hip Hop community it further shows how powerful Hip Hop music is as a long-standing branding influencer."

"When we first developed a relationship with MIMS last fall we could tell he was someone we wanted to build with," said Christina Calio, director of music marketing for Zune. "Zune is excited to partner with him on this tour and we look forward to identifying and supporting other artists in similar ways."

Breaking Billboard Hot 100 chart history for the third time ever with his smash single "This is Why I'm Hot," MIMS leaped to the #1 chart position (32-1) in March and has acquired the ears of the nation from radio waves to major sporting arenas. MIMS has the fastest selling platinum ringtone in the country. His new single "Like This," will hit airwaves April 16th. MIMS posts Audio Blogs on XXLMag.com

You can now follow MIMS on his 27 date tour as he calls in and posts on the XXLMag.com's GCast series of Audio Blogs. It'll be interesting to see how long this lasts. Especially the inbetween time. Artists are known to go weeks on end before adding new highlights or news related to their time. Though, I think MIMS is smarter than most and will keep this sh*t updated knowing what's at stake with his career and the marketing arrangement he has with Microsoft Zune.
